Add an Extra Layer of Security with Multi-Factor Authentication Through the GUNTRACK Web Edition
Keeping your firearm inventory and personal account information secure is a responsibility we take seriously at GUNTRACK. That is why the GUNTRACK Web Edition now supports multi-factor authentication, commonly known as MFA.
MFA adds an additional layer of protection beyond your email address and password. After MFA is activated, GUNTRACK will send a unique verification code to your registered mobile phone whenever additional identity verification is required. You will enter this code during the sign-in process before access to your account is granted.
This means that even if someone obtains your password, they still cannot access your account without also having access to your phone and the temporary verification code.
Because the GUNTRACK Web Edition and Mobile Edition use the same secure account, activating MFA through the Web Edition also protects your mobile access. The next time you sign in through the GUNTRACK mobile app, you may be asked to enter the same type of verification code sent to your phone.
MFA helps protect your account by:
- Preventing most unauthorized sign-ins involving stolen or reused passwords
- Confirming that the person signing in has access to the registered phone
- Adding protection across both the GUNTRACK Web and Mobile Editions
- Providing stronger security without changing how your inventory is stored or managed
Verification codes are temporary and should never be shared with anyone. GUNTRACK support will never ask you to provide your MFA verification code.
Activating MFA only takes a few minutes, but it creates a meaningful security barrier around your account. The following steps will show you how to enable MFA through the GUNTRACK Web Edition and what to expect when signing in from the mobile app.
Step 1: Enter Your Email Address and Password as Usual
Enter your GUNTRACK email address and password, and then sign in normally.
Step 2: Select “Enable MFA”
When prompted, select Enable MFA to begin the activation process.
Step 3: Enter Your Mobile Phone Number
Enter the mobile phone number you would like to register with your GUNTRACK account.
Step 4: Check Your Phone and Enter the Verification Code
Check your mobile phone for the verification code sent by GUNTRACK. Enter the code in the verification field.
Click Enable MFA, and that’s it. You will be redirected to your account as usual.
Step 5: Make Sure Your Mobile App Is Updated
Please update to the latest version of the GUNTRACK mobile app, which includes support for MFA access.
If you enable MFA through the Web Edition but do not update your mobile app, you will not be able to access your account through the older version of the GUNTRACK mobile app.
